We just wanted to give you a quick update on the website issues over the past few days.
For the past few months, we've been planning a move to some new (and faster) infrastructure. The move was planned for Monday morning, which is one of our quietest times and was expected to take a couple of hours to complete.
Despite lots of planning, it didn't go quite as well as we had hoped! When we switched to the new infrastructure, the site started running REALLY slowly, which was the opposite of what was intended and some of the functionality of the site (such as the password reset and prize claim buttons) stopped working all together.
We spent the next 48 hours or so chasing these problems down, trying to work out what was causing them so we could fix it, but nothing was making sense and rightly, you all were getting a little frustrated. We tried to keep you up to date as much as we could and answer all the emails you sent us, but we were acting a little in the dark.
After a couple of days, we finally had a breakthrough when our new infrastructure partner called us and said "oh, sorry, we've just realised that the new equipment we've given you is actually broken...". It turns out we were chasing problems that weren't actually there as the issue was wit the hardware instead - it was just impossible for us to know this.
So long story, yesterday (Thursday) we finally managed to switch over to the new (and unbroken) infrastructure and fingers crossed, everything now seems to be working and the site is running as it should.
We're obviously hugely sorry for the issues you've all faced - it was one of those things we couldn't have foreseen and we very much appreciate your understanding and patience this week. Now it's sorted, we can get back to finding lots of fun and exciting prizes for you all to win!
